7 )) Theft Prevention In Action: How Echo Global Logistics Bucks The Trend For Its Clients While the rise in cargo theft and fraud has plagued many shippers and their 3PL partners, Echo Global Logistics has a proven track record of prevention in this critical area. In the face of growing crime concerns, Echo continues to implement proactive processes, procedures, and technologies tailored toward safeguarding cargo loads and minimizing the effect this fraud has on our shippers. Here's why we are bucking the trend on cargo theft and fraud: We have a consistent and thoughtful fraud prevention strategy that starts with carrier selection. Echo sets a high bar for accepting carriers into our network, conducting thorough verifications of DOT and MC numbers, insurance coverage, licensing, and activity history. A variety of checks are performed to screen for any red flags, ensuring the integrity and reliability of our carriers. We also review carriers' authority history, requiring a minimum carrier authority of 12 months and a track record of passing road-safety inspections before allowing them into our network. This rigorous vetting process ensures that only reputable carriers are entrusted with our clients' freight. We handle high-value and targeted commodities with even greater security. Carriers who are new to the Echo network are not tendered high-value or targeted commodity loads until they have met stringent eligibility criteria. This includes hauling a minimum number of loads without incident and meeting a specified on-time percentage. Echo can also implement additional specialized security measures for high-value and targeted commodities, including elevated insurance requirements and enhanced track-and-trace protocols. Loads in this category are flagged within Echo's operating system so all team members involved are aware of the elevated requirements. These tailored processes mitigate the risk of fraud or theft and provide end-to-end visibility for proactive monitoring and intervention. We can also use tracking devices with light sensors embedded in pallets to detect potential breaches in real time. This type of tracking often enables swift response and intervention, even in the event of theft from a truck, bolstering overall shipment protection. We use sophisticated technology to enhance security. Echo employs state-of-the-art technology tools to fortify the safety and security of the shipments we manage for clients. Multilevel security layers are in place to make sure that the correct, legitimate carriers are awarded freight from our digital carrier networks. That includes multi-factor authentication to thwart potential network breaches. These additional checks and balances enable Echo to prevent bad actors from getting into digital platforms. By prioritizing stringent security measures, proactive monitoring, and technological innovations, Echo Global Logistics remains at the forefront of combatting cargo theft and fraud. Our commitment to ensuring the resilience and integrity of shipments helps our clients achieve peace of mind that their loads are in the right hands. Utilize Echo's network, technology and experts.
